Application

About KNX-RF

KNX-RF (radio frequency) is the wireless solution within the KNX standard. KNX is one of the leading standards for home and building control. In locations where either twisted pair cabling or Powerline technology are not suitable, KNX-RF can be used for data communication / transmission within buildings.

Embedded OEM RF module

The tiny surface-mounted RF module AMB8426-KNX provides an ideal radio solution for home and building automation applications supporting the wireless KONNEX protocol (KNX-RF). The RF module complies with the EN50090 (ISO/IEC 14543-3) standard and is licence-free usable throughout Europe. The RF module supports both unidirectional and bidirectional devices. The RF module is easy-to-integrate into sensors or actuators and helps OEMs reducing time-to-market significantly. The AMB8426-KNX operates in the 868 MHz frequency band and provides received signal strength information (RSSI) and Listen-Before-Talk (LBT ) functionality. The product supports S, A and E modes. The integrated power save mode enables long battery lifetime making the module also suitable for battery powered applications.

KNX-RF and Wireless M-Bus

Wireless M-Bus (EN 13757-4) is an associated KNX standard. Physical layer and link layer are designed as KNX metering in compliance with the respective parts of the EN 13757 standard. The AMB8425-KNX can receive both Wireless M-Bus telegrams (EN13757) and KNX telegrams.
